THE 2016 Irish Independent Property Industry Excellence Awards have been launched, and will again fund doctorate in property research at DIT. The awards are open to the entire property sector and all profits from the programme are reinvested back into the property industry through the doctorate. Commenting at the launch of this year’s programme, DIT president professor Brian Norton said: “The Property Doctorate will contribute to much needed evidenced based interventions in the property sector and will contribute to other contemporary research internationally.
It will enable the development of new research in this key, but under studied part of our economy and will enable the fostering of innovation and taught leadership in the build environment sector. DIT welcomes this initiative by the property industry and its leaders”. Jim Clery, Tax Partner and Head of Real Estate at KPMG which is the lead sponsors of the awards programme added, “our team at KPMG were delighted with the strength of the responses to last year’s awards. The entry by such a strong number of top quality projects and performances demonstrated the fantastic skills and experience present in the Irish real estate sector. “The judging sessions featured extensive debate on many of these outstanding submissions and, in some cases very fine calls were necessary. In all of the shortlisted cases we saw pride in showcasing excellence and innovation and we hope to see these attributes shine through again in 2016 as our sector moves forward with renewed confidence.” Sean Twomey, Partner Property and Construction at Eugene F Collins Solicitors said last year’s event was a “great success”. “The awards do not only acknowledge success they recognise other qualities such as ability, effort and above all excellence. Last year over 150 entries were received across ten specific categories with 43 been short listed for final judging.
The awards event was attended by over 750 guests, the largest gathering of property professionals for quite some time. The 2016 awards programme will be open for entries from May 2. For full details see propertyexcellenceawards. com
