Seán Lenihan, Chartered Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Ireland
Engineers Ireland Representative on the Judging Panel.
Seán is a Civil Engineering Graduate of University College Galway and also holds an MBA from Dublin City University.
Throughout his career across a number of Local Authorities and the Health Service Executive, he has worked in all of the Service Areas and has a particular interest in Energy Efficiency, Universal Accessibility and Project Management. Since becoming a Member of the IEI in 1993, Seán has had an involvement at regional, divisional and national level in a variety of roles and positions. A former Chairman (2006-2008) of the Local Government Division, he is also a former two term Chairman of the Thomond Region (2004 and 2014) which were very different periods for the Building Industry and the associated professions.
He has been elected on a number of occasions to National Council and has participated on various national working groups and Task forces. He has chaired and presented at Seminars and Conferences and has also served as the Engineers Ireland Representative with the NSAI. A strong advocate for CPD and lifelong learning, Seán was instrumental in his current employer, Clare County Council, been the first Local Authority to receive the EI CPD accreditation and has since helped many other organisations to do likewise.
